If you own a pre-1950 quilt, contact the museum to schedule an appointment for Sept 16 (about 20 minutes per quilt). On that day, the quilt will be photographed, measured, examined, documented and labeled by trained volunteers of the MA Quilt Documentation Project. By encouraging the study and preservation of quilts, the project (formed in 1994) seeks to demonstrate that these textiles convey important insights about their historical context as well as the lives of the individual women who made them. A $15 fee per quilt applies to defray the costs of the project.
