For most of the 20th century, government agents systematically forced Native American children from their homes and placed them with white families. Dawnland, a documentary supported by Mass Humanities, charts the story of Maine's government-sanctioned truth and reconciliation commission. For over two years, Native and non-Native commissioners traveled across the state, gathering testimony and bearing witness to the devastating impact of Maine's child welfare practices on the Wabanaki people.
