For most of the 20th century, government agents systematically forced Native American children from their homes and placed them with white families. Dawnland, a documentary supported by Mass Humanities, charts the story of Maine's government-sanctioned truth and reconciliation commission. For over two years, Native and non-Native commissioners traveled across the state, gathering testimony and bearing witness to the devastating impact of Maine's child welfare practices on the Wabanaki people. Presented in collaboration with the Karuna Center for Peacebuilding and Critical Connections.
