We will gather in Old Parish Cemetery on Washington Street at the grave of Rev. Edwin Thompson, who was pastor of the South Dedham (now Norwood) Universalist Society in the 1840s for a collective recitation of the great oratorical 1852 speech "What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?' . Thompson was a prominent abolitionist who traveled throughout Massachusetts advocating for universal freedom. In 1844 both Reverend Thompson and Frederick Douglass spoke at a meeting of the Norfolk County Anti-Slavery Society held in Dedham. #RFDT19
