The planning of an exhibition intended to increase the public's understanding and appreciation of the significance of the handmade lace production in the New England Town of Ipswich, Massachusetts between 1750 and 1840 as a social, economic, and cultural phenomenon and to provide insight into the lives of the women who made the lace, some of the nation's first entrepreneurs.
