DESCRIPTION:The Chinese Historical Society of New England presents the third in a series of lectures in celebration of its 20th anniversary. Lecture to be given by Suffolk University Professor of English & Director of Asian Studies Program, Dr. Da Zheng, who will talk about Chiang Yee, author of the Silent Traveller series popular in the 1930s-1970s.  Dr. Zheng will recount Chiang Yee's transnational experiences and will reveal Chiang Yee's personal encounters with racial exclusion and immigration laws, displacement, exile, and pain and losses he endured while maintaining a popular public image.
