InterGeneration: Exploring Storytelling Through Film and Conversation

March 28 @ 4:00 PM - 5:45 PM EDT

Cost: Free

Join Facing History and Ourselves for an engaging online film screening and interactive discussion about how intergenerational storytelling and connection can build and strengthen community in your classroom.

InterGeneration is a creative documentary that follows a diverse group of Boston teens through the Covid-19 pandemic as they connect with elders in their communities. Using animation and dialogue to explore ideas of memory, identity, and change, the film demonstrates the power of intergenerational connection, and what adolescents and elders can learn from each other as they face uncertainty with hope and wisdom.

Following the film screening, Facing History will facilitate a conversation with the filmmaker, Carolyn Shadid Lewis, and others who participated in the film. There will also be an opportunity to brainstorm ways of using intergenerational storytelling in the classroom to promote reflection, learning, and connection.
