Homestead for the Holidays–A Patriotic Affair
A PATRIOTIC AFFAIR: View the Historic Benjamin Nye Homestead all decked out in greenery with patriotic accents for the festive season. Enjoy wassail, a crackling fire, and election cake in the 1678 farmhouse.
ELECTION CAKE COMPETITION
Nye Museum staff & volunteers will be competing to see who can make the best election cake! Try samples and vote for your favorite recipe.
Food Historian, Paula Marcoux, will be onsite at 2:00 PM and will hold a short discussion on the importance of election cake. She will also judge the cakes and pick her favorite. The ballots will be tallied at 2:45.
This event is free thanks to a grant from Mass Humanities. Donations welcome.
This special event is part of Museum on Main Street, a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution and State Humanities Councils nationwide. It is based on an exhibition by the National Museum of American History. Support for Museum on Main Street has been provided by the United States Congress.
