MS+MA: Coast to Coast

February 18 @ 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM EST

Miss Mass Logo

MS + MA is a joint project of the Mississippi Humanities Council and Mass Humanities. We’re bringing together people from our respective states for six interactive, online programs to facilitate conversation and connection. By reflecting on our states’ histories in relationship to each other, this series aims to build understanding and offer new perspectives. At a time when the pandemic has created a greater sense of isolation, we hope to forge connections.

Session 3: Coast to Coast: The Lives of Fishing Communities

February 18, 2021: 7pm-8:30pm Central Time

Our next event looks at the lives of fishing families making their livings on the Gulf of Mexico (MS) and the Atlantic (MA). How are they meeting the challenges of changing economics, climate, and populations? What fish tales do they share? Why to they choose the sea?

The event is presented in partnership with the Walter Anderson Museum of Art in Ocean Springs, MS, and the New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center.
