Multimedia Storytelling Producer

About Mass Humanities

Founded in 1974, Mass Humanities is a private non-profit foundation that serves as the statewide affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Through grant-making to small nonprofits throughout the state, partnerships with educational institutions, and community engagement programs, we create opportunities for the people of Massachusetts to transform their lives and build a more equitable commonwealth. We believe in promoting an equitable and inclusive society that recognizes all people’s perspectives, especially those who have been historically excluded. At this critical juncture of our state and the nation, we believe the humanities must be part of decision making from the street corner to the classroom to the town meeting and the state house.

The Multimedia Storytelling Producer works to develop and implement a set of tools, standards, and processes aimed at offering Mass Humanities grantees new pathways to amplify their work via media partnerships and digital platforms. The position aims to advance participation in content co-creation and is an essential organizational partner for the successful launch of new collaborations with PRX and New England Public Media (NEPM) in summer 2023.

The role serves as a key collaborator in the establishment of a sustainable workflow that ultimately leads to the publication and distribution of local community stories (via broadcast, podcast, documentary, and/or web series). This role is responsible for handling outreach and logistics with participating grantees; serving as a connection with MH program staff regarding training and outputs, and coordinating closely with the lead Project Manager at PRX and staff at NEPM.

The Multimedia Storytelling Producer works daily with Mass Humanities grantees to identify, synthesize, and present options for story consideration. The role is integral to building and testing a sustainable workflow for participating grantees, media partners, and outside vendors. The position will coordinate gathering structured input, tracking results, and reporting back to stakeholders across the cohort progress, challenges, and results. The Multimedia Community Storytelling Producer will assemble and manage an advisory group to gather feedback and modify the content and distribution strategies.

The Multimedia Storytelling Producer must have production experience and up-to-date knowledge of community storytelling, be skilled at learning and using software for multimedia editing, and have a track record of managing collaborative projects with multiple cross-sector contributors.
