David Tebaldi to Retire this Fall
After 33 years of service to the people of Massachusetts as Executive Director of Mass Humanities, David will be stepping down in October. A national search for a new director will get underway this month, and opportunities to celebrate and honor David and mark this transition are being planned – stay tuned.

There’s: the Feb. 14 Transcribe-A-Thon, online or in-person at the American Antiquarian Society; Reading Frederick Douglass public events you can organize for this summer, with help from a discussion grant (inquiry deadline April 9); our collaborative high school Douglass project competition; special events in Lynn and New Bedford, and more.

Each year, the National Endowment for the Humanities offers tuition-free opportunities for school, college, and university educators to study a variety of humanities topics. Stipends of $1,200-$3,300 help cover expenses for these one- to four-week programs.

The Price of the Ticket / The James Baldwin Project
Two Mass Humanities grants funded a variety of efforts focusing on Baldwin’s life, work, and message of equality, including events combining film, live performances, and conversations with community leaders and humanities scholars, and the creation of classroom-ready multimedia study guides and lesson plans.
