Poet Laureate Regie Gibson and the “Song of Massachusetts”

“Any path to liberty this nation has taken is because we helped choose it.”

This line, spoken by Massachusetts Poet Laureate Regie Gibson, was one of many powerful statements made at a press conference for Massachusetts 250 on November 3 in Boston.

Governor Maura Healey, Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll, and Boston Mayor Michelle Wu previewed some of the events and programming in store for the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution in 2026. Additional speakers included Kate Fox, executive director of Massachusets Office of Travel and tourism; Bob Rivers, executive chair and chair of the board of directors at Eastern Bank, as well as chair of the MA250 Executive Committee; Chad Smith, president and CEO of Boston Symphony Orchestra; Dr. Nathaniel Sheidly, president and CEO of Revolutionary Spaces; and Eric Paley, secretary of economic development.
