Honoring the anniversary of the Raid on Deerfield, February 29, 1704, there will be a free lecture by renowned author and scholar, James L. Swanson.

• 1:00 pm: Doors open at Deerfield Academy’s Hess Auditorium, 7 Boyden Lane, and books available for sale by Northampton’s Broadside Bookshop.
• 2:00 pm: James L. Swanson’s lecture, “The Deerfield Massacre in Memory and Myth,” followed by book signing.
• 3:30 – 4:30 pm: Memorial Hall Museum open.

The redesigned 1704 Memorial Gallery will include new interpretation of the Old Sheldon House Door, feature diverse perspectives on the raid and its aftermath, and will highlight rarely seen objects and documents from the PVMA collection.
